Typical Roles

What is a Typical Role?
Typical Roles are LogTen's ways of hassle-free configuring your logbook to tailor the needs of the type of flying that you do. When a Typical Role is selected, two things happen:
  • LogTen makes certain fields visible (the ones relevant to the type of flying selected).
  • LogTen is configured to auto-fill certain fields (such as SIC, or Dual Given) based on the Total Time of the flight, as appropriate to the Typical Role selected. (You can find out more about "Auto-fill" here)

Changing your Typical Role does not modify/erase any of your data, it simply rearranges the display options to show you only the fields that you are likely going to need.

Even if certain columns become "invisible" after changing a Typical Role, the data is still there, but the Field is not being displayed to focus on the information that is important to you. You can re-arrange all the fields after selecting a Typical Role to customise your logbook even further. To do this, please have a look at our Configure Fields Article.

How do I set up/change my Typical Role?

On your iPhone or iPad, please open LogTen and navigate to More-->Settings-->My Logbook-->Typical Role. You will be presented with a list of Typical Roles that you can choose from. Below you will find an enumeration of all the Typical Roles, and what each of them will do.
