This limit can be set up to meet a single criterion, or a combination of them. For example, to ensure that the amount of flying or duty hours in a fortnight, month, year, or over a specified duration of time, do not exceed any legal limits, or company-set limits.
The possibilities are almost endless.
You want to make sure that you do not exceed more than 90h of PIC in a single month? Or maybe you want to make sure that you do not fly more than X amount of approaches a week? This is possible with a Limit Group.
You can find and download pre-made region-specific Limit Groups in the Regional Limit Group section.
In the following example, we will create a Limit Group to track a flight hour limitation for FAR Part 91K operators. The same principles apply for whatever limit you are trying to track.
The limitation is 800 flight hours in the past 2 calendar quarters.
1. Navigate to the Radar tab and tap the + button in the upper-left corner. Choose "New Limit Group".
2. Type in the desired name for the Limit Group (in this case "800 in 2 Quarters"), the time range and choose the time type.
In this case, we want the group to consider the last Two Calendar Quarters. When using Calendar Days, Months, Quarters or Years, the current one is considered to be "0". So for the group to consider the last two Calendar Quarters (ie: the current one, as well as the previous one), we would have to set it up as "In the last 1 Calendar Quarters"
4. Tap "Configure..." to begin telling the Limit Group what criteria you want.
5. Tap "Category" and choose "Time", then tap "Edit Criteria" to go back.
6. Tap "Key" and choose "Total Time", then tap "Edit Criteria" to go back.
7. Tap "Operator" and choose "<=", then tap "Edit Criteria" to go back.
8. Tap "Value" and type in "800", then tap "Back".
On top of that, if desired, the colour-coding of the remaining hours can also be set up.
In this case, the days remaining will be coloured green when there are 800 to 101 hours remaining, orange when 100 to 51 hours remaining, and red when 50 hours or less are remaining.
The resulting group will appear in the Limit Group section of the Radar tab (last Limit Group in the screenshot below). The number next to the 800 in 2 Quarters Limit Group is hours remaining until the limit is reached:
