Flight Time limit Groups
Duty Time limit Groups
The main flight duty limits can be tracked in LogTen with the Duty fields (specifically On Duty, Off Duty, and Total Duty). We recommend entering your "On Duty" time on your first flight of the day and "Off Duty" time on the last flight of the day, this will automatically calculate the Total Duty Time.
The maximum basic daily FDP is 13 hours, these 13 hours will be reduced by 30 minutes for each sector from the third sector onwards with a maximum total reduction of two hours (see table*). There is also an exception allowing a 1 hour extension. The Duty/Rest Bar is the best way for a pilot to see their "live" flight duty time.
The Duty bar shows the current scheduled duty period time as 10 hours and 50 minutes. Assuming no schedule changes, the current duty day would comply with the maximum flight duty period limit assuming a 3 sector day. Under "Duty Period" you can see an elapsed time of 2:32 and a time remaining of 8:17 for a planned duty day of 10:50.
The Duty/Rest bar, while on flying duty, will also show the planned rest opportunity for the evening. In the above example, the "Planned Rest" period is 11:22. As long as the scheduled Off Duty time is not exceeded by 1:22 the required rest period of 10 hours will be in compliance.

Rest
The minimum rest which must be provided before undertaking a flight duty period starting at home base shall be at least as long as the preceding duty period, or 12 hours, whichever is the greater. The minimum rest which must be provided before undertaking a flight duty period starting away from home base shall be at least as long as the preceding duty period, or 10 hours, whichever is the greater. The amount of rest between each duty period is now easily discernible in the new LogTen Time Loupe feature on the Plan page of the Radar tab:
It is important to note that Rest periods are predicated on the On Duty/Off Duty fields (and not the FDP fields). By filling out your Off/On Duty times for the day LogTen will automatically calculate your Rest Before Duty and use this time on the new LogTen timeline showing if you have legal rest for the evening. In the above example, you can see a planned rest for the evening of 11:26, with 6:20 elapsed and 5:05 remaining.
Using the Duty fields described above, LogTen allows you to track the following requirement:
Click/Tap here to download the Rest group direct to LogTenAn operator shall ensure that the minimum rest provided as outlined above is increased periodically to a weekly rest period, being a 36-hour period including two local nights, such that there shall never be more than 168 hours.
We treat this rest requirement as a Currency group so that it counts down the time until a period of 36 hours of rest is required. The number showing on this group is the number of hours remaining until the user is required to have a 36 hour period of rest (with two local nights).
Comments
With my airline, which I think is normal under EASA, if you’re on a home standby only 25% of your total duty counts towards the 7,14,28 day duty limits. To complicate it further 50% of home standby time counts towards the 12 month 2000 duty hour limit.
For example if you’re on an 8 hour home standby and don’t get called out only 2 hours counts towards your total duty on the 7,14,28 day limits and 4 hours counts towards the 12 month limit.
Is there anyway this option can be built into the system ?
Hi jamesgrace1990. Thanks for the feedback. I've created a support ticket for this suggestion to be documented properly.
