You may be wondering why you don't see a Helicopter option in the Class attribute of your Aircraft Types. This is because of the way the FAA categorizes Rotorcraft, and doesn't distinguish between Multi-Engine and Single-Engine rotorcraft.
Many logbooks separate Single-Engine and Multi-Engine time into their own sections, and LogTen knows to place time appropriately by checking if that entry's Aircraft Type is a Single-Engine or Multi-Engine aircraft. Because we still want your helicopter time to be logged in these reports, LogTen doesn't abide by the exact FAA terminology for aircraft "Classes."
Instead, any Aircraft Type configured as Category: Rotorcraft, and Class: SEL/SES/MEL/MES will be considered a helicopter. This also allows you to actually track your SE and ME helicopter time separately (unlike the FAA classifications)!

I have a question about this. I ran the logbook error report and it said that I needed to add a class to my helicopter entries. When I select Single engine land for helicopter, it then calculates all of my SEL helicopter time and adds it to my SEL airplane time. This doesn't work for reporting purposes where it needs to be broken out between airplane and helicopter.
Hi rmiller4292
Do you have the Category for the helicopter entry set to Airplane? Or is it set to Rotorcraft? Also when you say, "it then calculates all of my SEL helicopter time and adds it to my SEL airplane time", is this in a report you are generating? If so which one?
The category is set to rotorcraft. When I select SEL on the helicopter and run the "flight experience detail" report it adds all of my SEL Helicopter time to what is now only SEL airplane time. Its not a big deal but when I need to know SEL time for an insurance form, it's not asking for SEL rotorcraft time.
Thanks for the further clarification. Yes, the Flight Experience is inclusive of Aircraft & Rotorcraft. We have other reports that give you the data you need such as the Jeppesen Pro Pilot Log 27, Coradine International, and AirlineApps.com. Or a smart group would work very well for that.
