The minimum rest which must be provided before undertaking a flight duty period starting at home base shall be at least as long as the preceding duty period or 12 hours whichever is the greater. The minimum rest which must be provided before undertaking a flight duty period starting away from home base shall be at least as long as the preceding duty period or 10 hours whichever is the greater. The amount of rest between each duty period is now easily discernible in the new LogTen Pro Time Loupe feature on the Plan page of the Radar tab:
It is important to note that Rest periods are predicated on the On Duty/Off Duty fields (and not the FDP fields). By filling out your Off/On Duty times for the day LogTen Pro will automatically calculate your Rest Before Duty and use this time on the new LogTen Pro timeline showing if you have legal rest for the evening. In the above example you can see a planned rest for the evening of 11:26, with 6:20 elapsed and 5:05 remaining.
Finally, LogTen Pro now allows you to track the following requirement:
An operator shall ensure that the minimum rest provided as outlined above is increased periodically to a weekly rest period, being a 36-hour period including two local nights, such that there shall never be more than 168 hours.
To set this up, click the + button and create a new Currency Group, then configure in the following manner to allow you to show the remaining hours until another 36 hour rest period is required:
Click/Tap here to download the Rest group direct to LogTen Pro
We treat this rest requirement as a Currency group so that it counts down the time until a period of 36 hours of rest period is required. The number showing on this group is the number of hours remaining until the user is required to have a 36 hour period of rest (with two local nights).
Further clarification of duty and rest definitions and how they relate to LogTen Pro:
Duty A period which starts when a crew member is required by an operator to commence a duty and ends when the crew member is free from all duties.
LogTen Pro uses On Duty and Off Duty fields and auto-fills the Total Duty time based on these times. LogTen Pro uses these times not only to calculate Total Duty but also rest times (the Rest Before Duty field).
Flight duty period (FDP) A flight duty period (FDP) is any time during which a person operates in an aircraft as a member of its crew. The FDP starts when the crew member is required by an operator to report for a flight or a series of flights; it finishes at the end of the last flight on which he/she is an operating crew member.
The duty limits are based on Flight Duty Periods. LogTen Pro adds three new fields to specifically track Flight Duty Periods, FDP Start, FDP End, and Total FDP. Please see the groups above for tracking FDP limits.
Rest An uninterrupted and defined period of time during which a crew member is free from all duties and airport standby.
LogTen Pro adds the new Rest Before Duty field for tracking non-nightly rest (36 hours of rest) as described above. For nightly rest requirements the Time Loupe is the best source of rest between Duty periods.
